Eagle's Wings (Psalm 91)

I am a pianist and vocalist and my niche is funerals. I like to play meditative and peaceful songs. I improvise so I like to just be free and create at atmosphere of comfort and peace. Most of the songs I choose are Christian songs but I incorporate others. I love “its a wonderful world”. A mix of contemporary and some classical. I need a long list of songs as I usually play for up to an hour (before the service and after and usually a song in the middle).

It was sung by a choir at my dear friend’s funeral. It was the last song and because it is so beautiful you couldn’t speak after hearing it.
I definately want it to be sung at my funeral.

This song was played at a funeral I just attended, of a man who was like an uncle to me. The saddest part of this was, he died doing the one thing I love to do, that is go fishing. It is just sometimes not as fun to go fishing. I admit that!

Lyrics

You who dwell in the shelter of the Lord,
Who abide in His shadow for life,
Say to the Lord, “My Refuge,
My Rock in Whom I trust.”

And He will raise you up on eagle’s wings,
Bear you on the breath of dawn,
Make you to shine like the sun,
And hold you in the palm of His Hand.

The snare of the fowler will never capture you,
And famine will bring you no fear;
Under His Wings your refuge,
His faithfulness your shield.

And He will raise you up on eagle’s wings,
Bear you on the breath of dawn,
Make you to shine like the sun,
And hold you in the palm of His Hand.

You need not fear the terror of the night,
Nor the arrow that flies by day,
Though thousands fall about you,
Near you it shall not come.

And He will raise you up on eagle’s wings,
Bear you on the breath of dawn,
Make you to shine like the sun,
And hold you in the palm of His Hand.
