Ariana Grande performed “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” as the finale of the One Love Manchester concert on 4th June 2017. Proceeds of the concert and sales of this song went to victims and families of the bombing that occurred at Ariana Grande’s earlier concert at Manchester on 22nd May 2017.
‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’ is a very well-known song because it has been around since 1939 from the movie “The Wizard Of Oz” and it was sung by Judy Garland.
It is a popular song played at funerals because it is about going to a place of peace and beauty where dreams can come true.
Lyrics
Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high
There’s a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby
Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue
And the dreams that you dared to dream
Really do come true
Someday I’ll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where trouble melts like lemon drops
Way above the chimney tops
That’s where you’ll find me
Oh, somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow
Why, then oh why, can’t I
Someday I’ll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where trouble melts like lemon drops
Way above the chimney tops
That’s where you’ll find me
Oh, somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow
Why, then oh why, can’t I
If happy little bluebirds fly
Beyond the rainbow why
Oh why can’t I
