Sheltered in the arms of God by Dottie Rambo

What do you think?

by Krystal Wilson
(Brilliant, Ohio)

My grandfather’s name is Walter Wilson. He’s also called Bud.Bud Loved this song!
He sadly passed away, but before he died he heard me singing this song “Sheltered in the arms of God.”
But I wasn’t even there!
A week later he was sicker. He threw his hands up and said I’m goin’ home!
After he passed on my grandma said he told her to tell me to never quit singing for the Lord!
I won’t!

“..So let the storm clouds rise the dark clouds rise they don’t worry me, for I’m sheltered safe within the arms of God.”

Lyrics

I feel the touch of hands so kind and gentle,
They’re leading me in paths that I must trod;
I have no fear when Jesus walks beside me,
For I’m sheltered in the arms of God.

So let the storms rage high, the dark clouds rise,
They won’t worry me for I’m sheltered safe within the arms of God;
He walks with me and naught of Earth can harm me,
Sheltered safe within the arms of God.

Soon I shall hear the call from Heaven’s portals,
Come home my child, it’s the last mile you must trod;
I’ll fall asleep and wake in God’s new Heaven,
Sheltered safe within the arms of God.

So let the storms rage high, the dark clouds rise,
They won’t worry me for I’m sheltered safe within the arms of God;
He walks with me and naught of Earth can harm me,
Sheltered safe within the arms of God.

Sheltered safe within the arms of God!

I have heard from many people that it is a very good and popular song. I used to listen to this song on the radio when my grandfather & I spent time in his garden in my childhood.

“Sheltered In The Arms Of God” may not be the best Southern Gospel song of all time.
But if it is not, name a better song.
The production, lyrics, vocals…
Your grandfather had it right. What a classic! We will miss Dottie until we see her in the clouds.

  1. Dottie is in Heaven now singing her heart out. I loved hearing her sing, such a beautiful voice, I could just listen to her sing Sheltered in the arms of GOD over and over

  2. I grew up going to gospel concerts……including the Rambo’s. What a blessing to have had that opportunity. That had much to do with my being saved, growing in Jesus and resting in His arms.
